What is a keyframe and why is it important?

A keyframe defines the starting and ending points of any animation on a sequence; they are called frames because their position in time is measured in frames on a strip of film. They are important for smooth transitions.

How do you set a keyframe?
  • Media in which the keyframe is added to must be selected.
  • The effect within the effects control should then selected for e.g.(position)
  • Timeline is then positioned on media, where the stopwatch icon must then be selected, to insert a keyframe, this would be the starting point.
  • To set the ending point, the timeline in which the keyframe should be place on the media is selected, where then the keyframe is inserted.
All of the above can be set with keyframes.
