-  Keyframes are used to change the properties of a video or audio effect over time. Almost any effect can use keyframes; for example, volume, opacity, scale, position, colour balance, etc. Key frames are important as they allow for smooth transitions from beginning to end of a project. A keyframe also indicates where you add volume etc., and the great thing is once you create them they can be moved about on the timeline and changed.
